What’s in the box: the four minim.
Every complete set includes all four species. When a listing says “kosher” it meets the baseline requirements; “mehudar” means each piece was selected for beauty beyond that. Both fulfill the mitzvah.
One closed palm frond. Look for a straight spine and a tip that hasn’t split — good sets ship it in a protective sleeve.
The centerpiece — and the reason sets vary in price. Clean skin and a whole pitom (where the variety grows one) are what “mehudar” is grading.

Two willow branches — the most fragile of the four. Keep them refrigerated in a damp towel; many buy fresh replacements mid-week.
Before you order
What size sukkah do I need?
Count the people at your biggest meal and allow roughly two feet of table edge each, plus room to walk behind the chairs. An 8×8 seats four to six comfortably; a family that hosts should look at 10×12 and up — and measure the spot first, including roof overhangs, which can’t hang over the schach.
When will the lulav & etrog arrive?
Sellers ship sets fresh in the window between Yom Kippur and Sukkos, whenever you placed the order. Ordering early doesn’t mean it sits on your counter for a month — it means you’re in line before the popular grades sell out.
Does everyone in the family need a set?
One kosher set per household covers the mitzvah — family members can use it one after another. Many families add a chinuch set per child old enough to shake it, which costs less than refereeing the sharing.
How much schach do I order?
Match the roof dimensions of the sukkah, and round up — mats overlap at the seams and gaps are the one thing you can’t have. Most kits list a recommended mat size right in the description; if yours doesn’t, roof area plus ten percent is a safe rule.
